Methods How To Clean And Remove Kitchen Carpet Spill Effectively

Carpet spills can happen even when people try to be careful. If a kitchen is carpeted, the floor may be susceptible to carpet stains. Chances are that people who have kitchen carpet need to know how to clean and remove kitchen carpet spill effectively.

There are several methods of how to clean and remove kitchen carpet spill effectively. Blotting up as much of the moisture from the spill as possible is the first step in effectively cleaning the carpet spill.

The person cleaning the carpet spill should avoid rubbing the area of the spill. This is a common mistake which can spread the spill and make the carpet stain larger.

To pick up as much moisture from the spill as possible, the person may lay a paper towel or thin, clean towel on the stain and gently press on the area of the stain. The person may also use a blotting motion to pick up the moisture.

Once the moisture has been removed from the carpet spill, a mixture of two cups of water and two tablespoons of ammonia should be prepared in a bowl. A clean kitchen towel should be placed into the mixture. The towel should be wrung out to remove excess water.

After placing the wet towel over the carpet spill, an iron should be heated to a low steam setting. The iron needs to have water in its reservoir for the steam setting.

After putting the hot iron onto the wet towel, the person should check the stain once a minute. This process can be continued for up to five minutes or whenever the stain is removed, which ever happens first.

If this fails to remove the kitchen carpet spill, the person may want to try to use a little rubbing alcohol on the stain. Rubbing alcohol should never be poured onto a carpet stain. Rubbing alcohol can damage the carpet backing, so it should only be used by blotting onto the surface of the carpet.

Hydrogen peroxide can be blotted onto a carpet stain for stain removal. If rubbing alcohol is used, it should be rinsed with water by dabbing a clean, wet cloth onto the stain. Hydrogen peroxide does not need to be rinsed since it will turn to water.
